When it comes to manufacturing our access equipment, we think about the impact it has on the environment. One of the actions we take to reduce it is choosing suppliers with strong sustainable practices. In this post, we’ll highlight some of the exceptional work our suppliers are doing to become more sustainable, which is improving our supply chain sustainability.
Aluminium Supplier Strives for Carbon-Free Sustainability
Our supplier of aluminium has three goals for 2050:
- Deliver carbon-fee aluminium
- Removing carbon from their own operations
- Reducing society’s reliance on fossil fuels by developing renewable energy sources
They’ve already made exceptional progress. We’re now buying near carbon-zero aluminium of between 0.5 and 1 CO2 per kilogram of aluminium. Compared to the global average of 16.7 CO2 per kilogram, it’s a fraction.
Plastic Supplier Specialises in Recycled Polythene
Parts of our access equipment contain plastic. But, the best part is, it’s all recycled.
We source recycled polythene plastics from a supplier with a strong ethos on Corporate Social Responsibility. Once the material arrives in our warehouse, we undertake all the mouldings for the appropriate product.
Delivery Routes for Sustainability
As we run our own delivery system, it gives us the opportunity to find ways to reduce our carbon emissions. We’ve done this by fine-tuning our routes to avoid double backing on ourselves with an empty leg. While our trucks are not yet electric, we do maintain them so well so they’re carbon emissions are the same or near the same as the manufacturer’s tests.
