Thousands of homeowners in recent years have spruced the facade of their property. It’s especially the case with owners of unappealing, outdated pebbledash houses.
For years, the view has always been that houses with a pebbledash exterior were worth less, but we at LEWIS Access took it upon ourselves to find out whether this notion is in fact nothing more than opinions due to its aesthetics.
Price and Facade Data on 905 Properties
As part of our research, we collected price and facade data on 905 semi-detached, 3-bedroom properties with a garden and a driveway within London listed for sale on Zoopla. Facade data included, no pebbledash, half pebbledash, or full pebbledash, and whether it unpainted or which colour it was painted. With this dataset, we calculated the average price of £616,862.
Then, we collected a sample of 10 properties from our dataset from each category to ascertain the average price compared to the dataset average.

A half-painted grey pebbledash house increases the value by £83,138.
Half-Painted White Pebbledash
A half-painted white pebbledash house increases the value by £71,138.
Full Painted Cream Pebbledash
A full-painted cream pebbledash house increases its value by £48,138.
Half-Painted Cream Pebbledash
A half-painted cream pebbledash house increases the value by £25,638.
Full Painted White Pebbledash
A full-painted white pebbledash house increases its value by £18,138.
Full Painted Grey Pebbledash
A full-painted grey pebbledash house decreases its value by £6,862.
